I hereby rescind any post where I give a favorable review of Lexmark printers.
We have been using their C544 printers since June 2009, we now have four in use. We have been participating in their Rewards program since Day One, you buy genuine Lexmark toners and return them to Lexmark, after 10 toners you get a free one. They also advertise that you are eligible for free Imaging Kits but only if you use genuine toners.
We have been keeping an eye on this printer with a Printer Levels report, emailed daily to purchasing. Today I got emails from Lexmark that we had rewards to redeem so I redeemed the two free toners, that's twenty genuine toners purchased to get those by the way, but there's no sign of an imaging kit. Since I'm dealing with it call them up and get told the distribution of free imaging kits is at random, not everybody gets them.
That's not what they state on their website, though, and to me it's pretty clear that they are setting the expectation that if you continue to use their genuine toners you will receive a free imaging kit. Take a look at the attached, does this say to you that you will get free imaging kits or that you will be eligible should the Lexmark Lottery pull up your number?
